The table below contains links to download SOLIDWORKS software and service packs. The latest and earlier versions are also available via the SOLIDWORKS Customer Portal. Each initial download will be the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager only. The SOLIDWORKS installer will ask for your serial number to check your entitlement and will then download the relevant components. When downloading SOLIDWORKS, we recommend that you use the "Download Only" option within the installer, if you need to install SOLIDWORKS on multiple computers. |

To download other SOLIDWORKS products such as PDM, or to download earlier versions of SOLIDWORKS please visit the SOLIDWORKS Customer Portal. Each Service Pack available contains all the previous updates. Therefore, if you want to go to Service Pack 4, you do not need to download SP0 to SP3 first.
NOTE:
SOLIDWORKS 2014 is the last release that supports 32-bit operating systems. SOLIDWORKS 2015 and later will not install on 32-bit operating systems.
Starting with the SOLIDWORKS 2015 release, the SOLIDWORKS Viewer is being retired and will be replaced by the eDrawings Viewer. The SOLIDWORKS 2014 Viewer will remain available for download but will not open SOLIDWORKS 2015 and later models. The eDrawings Viewer 2015 is available on 64 bit operating systems only. For the complete list of supported operating systems, please see http://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/SystemRequirements.html
SOLIDWORKS Service Packs are only available to customers with active Subscription. The SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager will check your eligibility for a service pack, before downloading.
Short for End-User License Agreement, the type of license used for most software. An EULA is a legal contract between the manufacturer and/or the author and the end user of an application. The EULA details how the software can and cannot be used and any restrictions that the manufacturer imposes (e.g., most EULA??s of proprietary software prohibit the user from sharing the software with anyone else).
Not every EULA is the same. Some contracts stipulate acceptance of the agreement simply by opening the shrink-wrapped package; some require the user to mail back to the manufacturer a signed agreement or acceptance card; some require the user to accept the agreement after the application is installed by clicking on an acceptance form that appears on the user's monitor. This last method is typical of applications that can be downloaded from the Internet. In all instances, the user has the option of not accepting the EULA, subsequently surrendering the rights and ability to use the software.
As in typical legal contracts, the EULA protects both parties from liability if the software is used in a way not intended by the manufacturer or author. The EULA also is often referred to as the software license or user license.

SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS Data Management System RequirementsThese requirements apply to all SOLIDWORKS products except where noted. Use this information to ensure you are always working with a SOLIDWORKS-supported and optimized system for hardware, operating system and Microsoft products. |
We are often asked to advise on the best hardware to run SOLIDWORKS and your other CAE applications on. The answer will invariably depend on the type of work your company does, the size and the complexity of the models and drawings which you will create. One thing, however, is certain. The criteria used when selecting hardware for CAE Applications is different to the criteria used when selecting hardware for gaming or for general 'office' applications to run. This is especially the case when selecting a Graphics Card. There are any number of Graphic Cards released each year but only those designed for Workstations / CAD usage should be considered for a CAD / CAE workstation. |
SOLID Applications have defined a selection of Workstations and Mobile Workstations as solutions to run SOLIDWORKS. We are able to provide the best possible prices for this class of machines. We have chosen a selection of specifications which are outlined below, but these are subject to change at any time. Please see our SOLIDWORKS Worksations page for further information.
Use this information to ensure you are always working with a SOLIDWORKS supported and optimized system for hardware, operating system and Microsoft products.

Notes:
End Of Support (EOS) corresponds to the last SOLIDWORKS release where a Microsoft product is supported (This is synchronized with the Microsoft Mainstream Support End Date). SOLIDWORKS releases after the EOS are not supported for the said Microsoft product and SOLIDWORKS installation is blocked in the case of an operating system.
SOLIDWORKS Product Support Lifecycle defines the End Of Support for SOLIDWORKS versions.
SOLIDWORKS recommends using the latest Microsoft update of Windows, Office and Internet Explorer.
SOLIDWORKS supports each Windows 10 release for applicable SOLIDWORKS releases as long as it is still covered by both the SOLIDWORKS Product Support Lifecycle and Microsoft Windows Lifecycle Fact Sheet.
SOLIDWORKS recommends using a Windows Server operating system for all SOLIDWORKS server-based products. Refer to the Microsoft Windows Server documentation to select the Windows Server edition that meets your needs.
Windows Home Editions and Windows To Go are not supported.
Apple Mac ® based machines running Windows using Boot Camp are not supported.
SOLIDWORKS 2018 on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 requires the Microsoft April 2014 update
It is not recommended to install any instances of other applications on the SOLIDWORKS PDM Archive or Database Server. For PDM Professional, it is recommended the Archive and Database servers are two separate, dedicated machines.
SOLIDWORKS does not test or certify VPN (Virtual Private Network) solutions but provides best-effort support. Users may be directed to work directly with their VPN provider to resolve issues on a case-by-case basis.
Beginning with SOLIDWORKS 2020, DVD distribution media will only be provided on request. Please contact your Reseller.
